Required Objects was founded in 2021 by Ronan Stewart in Toronto, Canada, with a vision to merge functionality and minimalist principles within contemporary design. The practice emerged from a personal need to create essential furniture for my own living space, informed by clean lines, restraint, and architectural clarity. By focusing on objects reduced to their necessary elements, Required Objects develops furniture that balances utility and quiet presence, appealing to those who value timelessness, precision, and thoughtful construction.
Each piece follows a consistent design philosophy rooted in architectural thinking. Form, line, and silhouette are treated as primary concerns, while points of assembly are carefully concealed so that no visible hardware interrupts the object. This approach allows the work to read as resolved, intentional forms rather than assembled components.
